Weddings in Sardegna

Sardegna, also known as the Island of Sardinia, is one of the oldest inhabited areas of Italy.  This large island in the Mediterranean is divided into four provinces.  With its ancient ruins and beautiful architecture plus its modern hotels and restaurants designed for the world’s rich and famous, Sardegna makes for one of the most picturesquely perfect wedding destinations.

Madonna and other famous stars have made Sardegna their “home away from home.”

Movie stars and rock stars flock to the island as a place to “get away from it all.” As a consequence there are many five star hotels and restaurants that cater to the upper class as well as a multitude of smaller, more intimate hideaways that are perfect for lovers who wish to spend time with just each other.

Most people begin their introduction to Sardegna at the beautiful and ancient town of Cagliari, which is still surrounded by much of the ancient walls that were intended to keep out pirates and other invaders from the sea.   There is much to do in Cagliari, from visiting ancient ruins and churches, to luxury shopping, to sipping lattes in trendy bistros overlooking the harbor.

Your civil wedding in Sardegna will be a memory that you will never forget.

Religious weddings are very difficult to arrange on the island before the couple has had a civil wedding.  The Civic Palace is a beautiful building near the center of Cagliari and contains the wedding hall where your civil ceremony may take place.  The walls of the room are covered with beautiful frescoes by none other than Filippo Figari, one of the most famous artists the island has ever produced.

Your ceremony may be conducted by the Mayor of Cagliari himself and couples are welcome to read personal vows or poetry that has special meaning to them.

Civil weddings can be arranged in several other towns on the island as well.  We strongly recommend that you use the services of an experienced wedding planner to make the arrangements for your civil ceremony and to help walk your paperwork through the Italian legal system so that your wedding will be as perfect as you always dreamed.

Following your civil ceremony you may have the religious or symbolic ceremony that you have always dreamed of.

Once your civil ceremony is complete, you are free to have the religious or the symbolic ceremony of your choice almost anywhere on this dazzling island.  Catholic ceremonies generally must be performed inside a Catholic Church, but since the island is filled with some of the most gorgeous and ornate Catholic Churches in the world that is not a problem for most Catholics.

Protestant and other religious ceremonies as well as symbolic ceremonies can generally be arranged in a wide variety of locations, from sumptuous Villas, to yachts in the harbor, to ancient castles or fancy hotel ballrooms or rooftop gardens.

Your reception will be a gala feast that everyone will remember for a lifetime!  The food of Sardegna is legendary and the wines on the island are the nectar of the gods themselves. If your wedding fantasy has been to have it all, then perhaps you need to make plans now to hold your special day in this most magical of all places, the Island of Sardegna.
