Destination Weddings on the Island of Ischia
Emerald green hillsides, silky volcanic sands, dramatic seaside cliffs, and soothing, natural thermal springs: all in one secluded, picturesque island. The Island of Ischia is just off the Italian mainland, 21 miles west of Naples.
While much of the famous stretches of beaches can become crowded in the summertime, taking a water taxi can quickly bring you to a more secluded beach such as the Maronti. Conclude the evening with a romantic dinner for two, cooked directly under the sand by fumaroles, or volcanic gas vents.
When you are ready to step off these exotic sands for a little hometown culture, Ischia Porto is located on the Eastern coast of the island, situated in the crater of the Monte Epomeo volcano. Boutiques and various shops will entertain you through the afternoon, at which point the evening lights up with animated festivity for both locals and tourists alike, including music, dance, great food and exotic wine. But don’t leave just yet, the Aragonese castle is a must see while you are in Ischia Porto. Built in 1438 by Alfonso of Aragon, Aragonese castle is stunning not only by its massive stature, but also for the mystifying Rocks of Sant’ Anna that surround this famous landmark.
