Religious Weddings

Religious weddings in Italy are divided into Catholic (majority), Protestant and Jewish. These are the 3 main religions present in the country. As you would expect from a mainly Catholic country, there are thousands of magnificent cathedrals, charming country churches and small chapels in every region; the choice is staggering and your wedding coordinator will help you locate the right one for you. It is possible in many locations to have an English speaking priest perform your ceremony.

As far as Protestant, only the larger cities such as Florence, Venice and Rome have Protestant churches of note but we can have a pastor marry you in a private villa, garden or castle should you wish to hold a ceremony there.

For Jewish weddings, the Italian Jewish Community is 100% Orthodox and the synagogues in 95% of the cases only marry Orthodox couples who have fulfilled all the religious requirements. If you do wish to hold a Jewish ceremony in a villa or castle of your own choice, we recommend flying over with your own rabbi.

Most religious ceremonies are blessings, which means that by Italian law you must first be married civilly or the pastor/priest cannot perform the religious ceremony. However, this is not always the case and in particular with Catholic weddings, many of our churches/priests do perform a civil and catholic wedding together
