The most ancient and the most central hotel in Venice. In the 12th Century during the Crusades the house gave hospitality to the Knights Templars on their way to the Holy Land during their visit to the "Serenissima".
During the 18th century the building was decorated with frescoes by the Giambattista Tiepolo school and filled with beautiful furniture. Recently restored, the building is back to his original splendor with hand-blown Murano chandeliers, inlaid marble floors, period furnishings and fabrics. The palazzo’s lobby is flood-free so that even during the winter, when "acqua alta" tides force employees of other hotels to clear out their lobbies of all their rugs and furniture, this hotel remains dry.
A very short walk will take you to Piazza San Marco, dubbed by Napoleon as "the most beautiful drawing room in Europe", where Caffe’ dei Quadri, Caffe’ Florian and the most exclusive jewelry stores are located.
The hotel’s experienced wedding coordination staff can make any wedding reception, casual or elegant, large or small, always perfect and sensational. Sean Connery, Michael Douglas, Lionel Ritchie, President Nelson Mandela, Greg Luganis, Harold Bloom are some of the famous guests that have honored this hotel with their presence.
