Destination Weddings in Peschiera

Peschiera is a small town of some 8,000 inhabitants located on the south side of Lake Garda. Located near Verona, the area is a convenient base from which to explore the region. This first century town is situated within the walls of a majestic fortress, yet the town is charming and filled with quaint shops, bars and cafés.

Peschiera del Garda is a region renowned for its fertile countryside and fine wine. It is known to have attracted kings, merchants and cardinals and is now recognized for its hospitality, serving visitors with over a dozen hotels and several camping areas.

There are a number of wonderful events and attractions to entertain visitors. The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Frassino is a short distance away, and exhibits important 16th century paintings by Paolo Farinati. The city walls, built by prominent architects during the Roman Empire, offer breathtaking views of the bay and the nearby hills. The Piazza Bettotti with the Palazzo di Comando del Presidio, have a small historical museum and are located in town. Colà contains many notable 16th and 17th century villas such as Villa Cedri , Villa de Sacco and Villa Miniscalchi. A biclycle trip to Valeggio along the Mincio river can be a pleasant and worthwhile activity. The historical center in town offers shopping, restaurants, ice-cream parlors and a variety of recreational facilities. Water sports such as sailing, motor boating and water-skiing are available for nautical fans.

Concerts and theatre performances take place inside the ancient fort. There are a number of annual events for tourists and locals to enjoy. For example, in August, Peschiera plays host to the "Palio delle Mura,” a boat competition in the moat along the town walls. In June, the Raduno barche d'epoca is celebrated, and in July, the Guest Festival takes place. With so much happening in this active town, Peschiera is a wonderful choice for the site of an authentic Italian wedding.
