Destination Weddings in Bardolino

Surrounded by vineyards, cypress trees and olive groves, Bardolino is a Mediterranean town with narrow streets that are conveniently void of traffic. As one of Lake Garda’s most lively resorts, it offers a lakeside promenade filled with cafés, charming views, and a community calendar filled with wonderful events for tourists to enjoy, from sailing regattas to symphony concerts. A destination wedding in this region makes for a dream come true.

There are over fifty hotels, numerous summer resorts and a dozen large camping sites to accommodate every type of visitor. There are ferries available for a cruise around the lake, which is particularly pleasant around sunset. The cafés serve home-made ice creams, and the restaurants serve fresh, local fish dishes. Lake fish is used in many of the native dishes, accompanied by the world-renowned Bardolino red or rosé wines, which are, of course, produced here. The Bardolino wine region, located along the eastern shore of Lake Garda, is filled with hillside vineyards that are exposed to the rampant sunshine that reflects off the lake.

Bardolino offers a perfect marriage between the contemporary and the old-fashioned. The rustic 12th century chapel of San Pietro and 11th century San Severo church, are the notable landmarks in town. The fertile hills and mild climate drew historical leaders and noble families to this area, and they built castles, palaces and monasteries. Throughout the centuries an extraordinary historical and artistic heritage has formed and now beautiful churches, lovely gardens and stately Venetian villas draw tourists from around the world.

Bardolino is host to several important international triathlons in Italy. Sports are popular here and include such activities as road and mountain biking, sailing, water-skiing, swimming and horseback riding. Each Thursday morning, a bazaar is held in Bardolino where local arts and crafts are sold. Foods can be sampled, and local wine and oil can be purchased directly from the producers.
