Destination Weddings in Castelnuovo Berardenga

Castelnuovo Berardenga is the portal to the rest of Italy’s treasures.  This key starting point is an ideal location to launch your exploration of Tuscany.

Standing on a hilltopin between Chianti Classico and the Crete Senesi, the traditional landscape of southern Siena, Castelnuovo is set  mere19 kilometers from Siena, 45 kilometers from Arezzo and. 85 kilometers from Florence. Excellent for travel, this picturesque destination is on the Chiantigiana or “the road to Chianti”. This charming route flows along rolling hills and valleys, through the most distinct towns of Tuscany.  Montalcino, home of the world-famous Bunello wine, is a close neighbor and towns like San Gimignano and Montepulciano, renowned for their wine as well, are a short drive away.

Castelnuovo has an air of refined elegance to its proud-standing architecture. Back in the fourteen hundreds Castelnuovo ruled all the villages surrounding it and still carries a regal expression. One of the most striking features of the area is the number of castles; Castello di Montalto, the castle that belonged to the the Berardenghi family, stands out among them.

The gigantic sighting tower of Poggio ai Castelli looks out over miles of terrain.  Visitors are permitted to climb to the top and see the villages that encircle the tower.  It is said this is the only way to see the tremendous panorama of the fertile Chianti hills with their olive groves, vineyards and grain fields across the horizon. A traditional grape festival is held here during the last week of September; wine tasting, buying the typical products of the area, a parade of allegorical carriages with people in costume are just a few of the many interesting activities taking place.

Inside the pleasing town of Castelnuovo Berardenga it is not so rural.  At the main square, Piazza del Mercato, the ground is adorned with a tessellation of brick surrounding an attractive fountain with benches for observing the world pass by.Decorating this already radiant piece of town is the lovely Church of San Giusto and Clemente. The Neoclassical style structure with marble pillars was built in the mid eighteen hundreds.

Castelnuovo Berardenga is an ideal destination to begin your lives together.
