Sciacca is noted mostly for its wide sandy beaches and remote private ones, sheer cliffs, fishing ports, ancient caves and thermal spas, all of which await your arrival for your destination wedding.
A labyrinth of houses and streets, some of which can be narrow enough to fit only a single person at a time, winding stairways, and window boxes filled with blossoming geraniums, make this an enchanting place.
Whitewashed buildings render an almost Arabic vibe, untouched by mass tourism and situated along the famous archaeological trail in Sicily; Sciacca is one of the oldest towns on the island. Along the upper section of the town, a medieval wall runs along and provides protection to the steep narrow streets. The lower part of the town sits on a cliffside terrace overlooking the harbor. It’s easy to while away the time taking in the views.
Put on a show in the center of the town at Piazza di Scandaliato. Here the Italians take their afternoon stroll along the promenade, stay cool under the swaying palm trees, or just simply take in the spectacular view of the sea.
During your free time, window-shop for artistic ceramic pieces in a mirage of colors, touching all imagery of the Sicilian palate. The seafood is delectable, arriving fresh daily from the crystal clear waters.
Before you venture out of town be sure to rest your weary feet in one of the thermal baths at the famous Carnevale. The natural vapors, pools and mud baths all sound divine – consider spending your honeymoon here without moving an inch.
