Unique characteristics of this Medieval Fortress
Napoleon himself admired this imposing fortress built around the end of the first millennium to protect the inhabitants of the area from Hungarian raids!
From that age the crenellated walls and the access door of the compound, one of the largest fortifications in Lombardy, still stand.
The area, ruled by the Visconti and subsequently the Scaligeri families since the Middle Ages, in the fifteen century fell under the powerful Venetian Republic. The winged lion inside a niche over the entrance door with ponte levatoio testifies to the Venetian domination of the region.
A beautiful cypress alley leads from the castle to the house, built in the fourteen hundreds for the local Venetian leader.
The structure was bought and restored in the eighteen century by a local political figure, who lived in it with his wife.
Now a museum, the two story, twenty room house is filled with valuable paintings, antiques and objects of art.
He also built next to the house, inside the lush garden, a library to host his collection of almost 53.000 antique books, to this day one of the most important private collections in Lombardy.
Unforgettable, one of a kind medieval location for the most romantic Italian wedding ceremony!
