Destination Weddings in Gragnano

It has been called the pasta capital of the world. A town that lies below the crown of mountains that separate it from the Amalfi Coast, Gragnano is known for customs that commemorate the national staple. The residents are proud of their pasta and the city’s renowned pasta makers.  In a country where the average citizen consumes over 90 pounds of pasta product per year, Gragnano has much for which to blow its horn. And thanks to the Pastificio Di Martino factory that exported its first shipment of pasta through the Panama Canal in the early 1800s, various forms of pasta have become one of the most loved food world-wide.

Gragnano boasts salty breezes that combine with a great deal of sunlight, presenting the perfect environment for pasta to dry prior to the introduction of modern appliances to this industry. Via Roma, the main street in town, was originally designed to be wide enough to allow the coastal breeze to flow easily in order to dry the flour and water used to make the pasta. There are springs and streams throughout the area for visitors to enjoy, but those were also utilized for pasta production as they were at once used to blend dough.

Traveling to and from Gragnano is easy via a 19th-century railroad line that connects it to the port of Naples. This area offers an emblematic setting for a traditional Italian wedding. With a consistent Mediterranean climate and the town’s notoriety for Italy’s main foodstuff, a marriage ceremony here effectively blends old-fashioned charm with Italy’s contemporary lifestyle.
