Destination Weddings in Castellammare di Stabia

A seaport in the region of Campania, Castellammare di Stabia lies in the south-east angle of the Bay of Naples, at the beginning of the peninsula of Sorrento. This favored tourist area has a stately view of Vesuvius, and thanks to the sea and mineral water baths, offers 12 springs that have been utilized since the Roman times. The area is rich with sulfur, considered to have healing properties. Because of its well-known resort atmosphere, Castellammare di Stabia is a magnificent location for a destination wedding.

A summer vacation spot and spa, Castellammare di Stabia has many sights for visitors in addition to its famous thermal mineral springs. There are three large 18th century churches, shipyards founded in 1783, and a small-arms factory. Other notable points of interest for which the town is renowned are its iron handi-works, cotton, and macaroni mills. The 16th century Duomo, the Angevin Castle, the Grotto of S.Biagio, the Chiesa del Gesu' also deserve a visit. The Antiquarium Stabiano, the local museum, houses the archaeological findings from the excavations that are still in progress. There is an electric tramway that runs along the coast road to Sorrento, which was built in 1905.

Castellammare di Stabia is also a commercial and industrial center where food products, paper, and cement are produced. The city was built on the site of Stabiae, a favorite Roman resort, which was buried in the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79. Castellammare di Stabia gets its name from a castle built by the emperor Frederick II, that sits on the hill to the south of town. The royal villa, Quisisana, built in1310 and rebuilt in 1820, is now a hotel.

Castellammare di Stabia is the ideal location for a marriage ceremony between a bride and groom who love the summer retreat experience, or those who have a special interest in history and archaeology.
