Special Features
Amalfi's incredible cathedral dominates the entire piazza and is the town's greatest pride. It dates from the 10th century and was further enhanced through the centuries up till the 1800's.
The lovely façade displays a mix of styles, from Moorish to Norman, to Gothic. There is a 12th century Romanesque bell tower decorated with green and yellow glazed tiles, while the huge bronze entrance doors were cast in Constantinople in 1066.
The lovely and romantic Cloister, the Chiostro del Paradiso (Cloister of Paradise) is decorated with delicate Moorish arches.
Greatest of all are the truly grand stairs ascending to the church, one of the most choreographic settings available for a bride's arrival and wedding photos.
